I believe that smaller government is a more efficient, which allows businesses both large and small to grow prosperously. There are always places to streamline and reduce costs; one way to do this is looking for opportunity for public and private partnerships. For example, Mack McDonald, the Davis County Facilities Director, was hired last year and took it upon himself to make the county more efficient by hiring a third-party janitorial company. In doing so, he is saving the county $500,000 over the next three years alone! Clearly there are opportunities in our county to reduce costs and the size of our county government. Through duplicating Mack’s example, working with the heads of departments I am confident we can find more innovative solutions to save costs.
